MINISTRY OF DIGITAL EMPOWERS RURAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH JELAJAH KOMUNITI DIGITAL AT SMK BELAGA, SARAWAK
BELAGA, 17 JULY 2025 – Yang Berhormat Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital, officiated the Jelajah Komuniti Digital programme held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Belaga, Sarawak.
The Ministry of Digital continues to strengthen its commitment to expanding the national digitalisation agenda by organising the Jelajah Komuniti Digital programme. This initiative is organised through strategic collaboration with agencies under the Ministry, namely the Department of Personal Data Protection (JPDP), MYNIC Berhad, and Alibaba Cloud as the main technology partner.
This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and provide exposure to the latest technologies that can benefit students, educators, community leaders, and government agencies in the Belaga area. Among the key focus areas of the programme are digital education, personal data protection, digital identity management, and early exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI).
YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital, emphasised that the Ministry of Digital will continue to reach every corner of the country, including rural and remote areas, to ensure that no community is left behind in the wave of national digital transformation. He also urged the public to adopt a “Digital-First Mindset” as a key driver in accelerating the growth of Malaysia’s digital economy.
Alibaba Cloud’s contribution to this programme also strengthens learning sessions on cloud technology and AI, demonstrating the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing the national digital agenda.
The programme received an encouraging response, with the attendance of over 300 students, 40 community leaders, and representatives from all government agencies in the Belaga district. Students also had the opportunity to engage in a casual dialogue session with the Deputy Minister of Digital and participate in interactive technologybased activities.
The Jelajah Komuniti Digital programme reflects the government’s serious commitment to making digitalisation a right for all Malaysians, regardless of location while strengthening Malaysia’s position as an inclusive and competitive digital nation.
