Launching Ceremony organised by the Ministry of Digital and Digital
Nasional Berhad (DNB), held at Menara MBJB, Johor Bahru.
Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB) in collaboration with Digital Nasional

powered by 5G, as part of the Ministry of Digital’s 5G AI Cities Grant awarded
to city councils and solutions providers in 2025.
YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, the Deputy Minister of Digital,
stated that the initiatives implemented by Johor Bahru reflect the national
aspiration to translate AI policies into actual execution that directly benefits the
people. At the same time, he emphasized that Johor Bahru is not merely
planning, but implementing. It is not just a concept, but real-world use cases
that have a direct impact on the citizens. He also highlighted the role of AI, 5G,
and digital technology as drivers for cities that are safer, more efficient, and
inclusive.
Among the use cases demonstrated were 5G-enabled AI aerial drones for medical delivery and urban planning, solar-powered AI CCTV systems for real-time monitoring and enforcement to support smart mobility initiatives in conjunction with Visit Johor 2026.
The showcase forms part of broader efforts under the national AI agenda to position cities as key environments for practical AI deployment, supported by robust 5G infrastructure and strong collaboration between government, local authorities and industry partners.
