MINISTRY OF DIGITAL IMPLEMENTS JELAJAH KOMUNITI DIGITAL TO EMPOWER RURAL COMMUNITIES IN SIBUTI
SIBUTI, 4 OCTOBER 2025 – The Deputy Minister of Digital, Yang Berhormat Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, officiated the Jelajah Komuniti Digital held at Rumah Johnson Jangu, Seloi Tengah, Sibuti, Miri, Sarawak.
This edition of the Jelajah Komuniti Digital was organised by the Ministry of Digital as part of efforts to expand the nation’s digitalisation agenda, in strategic collaboration with the Ministry’s agencies, MyDIGITAL Corporation and MYNIC Berhad.
This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and provide exposure to the latest technologies that can benefit the local community in Sibuti, Miri, Sarawak. As part of the programme, MYNIC organised an awareness session with the longhouse community on the importance of owning a .my domain name. In addition, MYNIC also offered one-to-one guidance sessions at its booth for those seeking further information. The session featured Cikgu Yaser, MYNIC Master Trainer, who shared his expertise and experiences. At the same time, various attractive prizes were prepared for participating attendees.
During this roadshow, MyDIGITAL introduced the local community to the benefits of Rakyat Digital, which emphasises accessibility, flexibility, and inclusivity in developing a digitally literate workforce and enhancing Malaysia’s competitiveness in the global digital economy. The Rakyat Digital initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Digital through MyDIGITAL Corporation, aims to enhance digital literacy among Malaysians by equipping them with essential digital skills to navigate the technological era, in line with the nation’s aspiration to become a leading digital nation. Through public-private collaborations with partners such as Microsoft, Intel, and CyberSecurity Malaysia, the programme offers various free online courses including AI untuk Rakyat, CyberSAFE® untuk Rakyat, Cloud untuk Rakyat, Blockchain untuk Rakyat, AI Fluency, and Generative AI, which have collectively attracted over 1.4 million participants nationwide.
YB Deputy Minister of Digital reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to continue touring nationwide, including rural and remote areas, to ensure that all segments of society benefit from digital transformation. He also emphasised the importance of adopting a “Digital-First Mindset” as a key driver of Malaysia’s digital economy growth.
The programme received an encouraging response, with more than 250 participants from across Sibuti, including 20 community leaders, local residents, and representatives from various government agencies in the Subis and Miri districts. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in a casual session with the Deputy Minister of Digital, as well as engage in various interactive technology-based activities.
The Jelajah Komuniti Digital underscores the government’s strong commitment to making digitalisation a right for all Malaysians regardless of location and to strengthening Malaysia’s position as an inclusive and competitive digital nation.
