THE MINISTRY OF DIGITAL INTRODUCES THE MS 2754 SERIES STANDARD TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY AND ENHANCE TRUST IN THE DIGITAL ECONOMY ECOSYSTEM
KUALA LUMPUR, 18 November 2025 – The Ministry of Digital has launched the Malaysian Standard MS 2754 Series (Sharing Economy), a strategic move to strengthen the foundation of security and trust within the nation’s digital economy ecosystem.
The launch of these two new Standards, General Principles and General Trustworthiness and Safety Requirements for Digital Platforms was officiated by YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital.
The MS 2754 document series was developed through the Sharing Economy Technical Committee (NSC 03/TC 9), with coordination by the Ministry of Digital, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and the Department of Standards Malaysia (JSM). This Standard provides comprehensive guidelines to ensure that digital platforms are more transparent, trustworthy, and secure. It places particular emphasis on key aspects such as user verification to ensure identity authenticity, data protection to safeguard the confidentiality and security of personal data, dispute resolution through clear and fair mechanisms, and operational safety to protect platforms and users from threats and fraud.
YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong stated that today’s launch of MS 2754 demonstrates the Government’s commitment to providing a transparent and well-regulated environment, where digital platforms can innovate with confidence while users and service providers can interact safely and ethically. This is also aligned with the strategies and direction of the Ministry of Digital as the lead driver of the nation’s digital ecosystem, with the ultimate goal of positioning Malaysia as an AI Nation by 2030.The Ministry of Digital encourages all Sharing Economy platforms to integrate MS 2754 into their operations to build a competitive and trustworthy marketplace.
The launch event was also highlighted by a Commitment Declaration Session by representatives of sharing economy digital platforms in support of the MS 2754 standard, during which five (5) local platforms presented a special plaque to YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong as a symbolic gesture of support. This was followed by a brief Appreciation Session for the platforms that have completed the Sharing Economy Platform Assessment Programme under MDEC. The Ministry of Digital remains committed to developing a resilient, inclusive, and progressive digital ecosystem founded on digital trust.
