PRESS RELEASE
MINISTRY OF DIGITAL HANDS OVER PARLIAMENT HANSARD
SYSTEM TO PARLIAMENT OF MALAYSIA
KUALA LUMPUR, 9 JUNE 2026 – The Ministry of Digital today officially
handed over the Parliament Hansard system to the Parliament of Malaysia in
a ceremony officiated by the YB Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital.
This handover marks another significant milestone in the government's digital
transformation agenda, aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and
public access to parliamentary debate records.
The Parliament Hansard system was specifically developed to modernize the
management and accessibility of the nation's debate records. It transforms the
method of accessing Hansard records from PDF documents into a digital
platform that enables faster, more accurate, and efficient searches and
analysis. This initiative not only facilitates reference and research work within
Parliament, but also empowers political literacy among the public.
Transforming Parliamentary Records into Smart Data
Through the technical expertise of the Malaysia GovTech Unit, the Parliament
Hansard is now equipped with enhanced search and analysis functions,
providing added value to users:
• Fast and Cross-Session Search: Enables users to search for
keywords or topics across multiple parliamentary sessions
simultaneously, eliminating the need for manual document reviews.
• Data Visualization and Analysis: Displays term frequency and word
clouds to help users identify the focus and trends of debates.
• Specific Filtering: Allows search results to be filtered by the Member of
Parliament's (MP) name, making it easier for users to track their
participation and contributions in debates.
Strengthening Digital Democracy
The development of the Parliament Hansard system reflects the MADANI
Government's commitment to ensuring that information and records of
parliamentary proceedings are more open and accessible. Previously, the
public had to manually review lengthy PDF documents, but now this information
is available in a more user-friendly format and can be accessed more easily,
quickly, and accurately.
The handover of this Parliament Hansard system is testament to the
technological synergy in strengthening the nation's democratic institutions. It
enables the debate records of both the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara
available in the system to be accessed and analyzed with greater clarity,
thereby enhancing accountability and bridging the information gap between the
public and leaders.
Information Status
While this system functions as a digital platform to facilitate search and analysis, it does not replace the official Hansard documents published by Parliament. All data is based on official sources to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the information.
With this handover, the Parliament of Malaysia now moves forward with more efficient management of debate records, in line with the aspirations Towards an AI Nation 2030.
