Sat Sri Akal, Salam Perpaduan dan Salam Malaysia MADANI.
1. Saya cukup berterima kasih kepada jawatankuasa Gurdwara Sahib Polis High Street yang sudi menjemput saya ke program Hari Polis sempena ulangtahun PDRM ke-219.
INTEGRITI: PERISAI PALING AMPUH
Tuan-tuan dan Puan-puan sekalian yang dihormati,
8. Pada masa yang sama, tugas menjaga keamanan bukan sekadar rutin, tetapi satu tanggungjawab nasional.
COLLABORATIONS KEY IN FIGHTING CRIME Brothers and Sisters,
9. The PDRM motto, "Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada" is not just a slogan; it is a strategic necessity.
10. In a multicultural society like Malaysia, trust is the currency of cooperation. When the public feels a personal connection to their local police personnel, they are more likely to act as the "eyes and ears" of the force, providing crucial intelligence that leads to crime prevention.
11. In fact, we at the Ministry of Digital are thankful of the constant engagement we enjoy with PDRM. We have had visits by officials to our ministry. Recently, my special officer Saudara Mandeep Singh attended a buka puasa event with Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Sri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, the Director of the Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti, Bukit Aman, at the Petaling Jaya Police District Headquarters.
12. Personally, I have enjoyed cordial and professional relationships with many of you and your colleagues during my time as a lawyer, politician and now minister. We have worked hand in hand on many fronts — from human rights issues, upholding justice to fighting cyber security threats.
13. Such a close relationship creates a feedback loop. When the community feels empowered to speak to their local police, it creates a layer of informal accountability. This discourages misconduct and corruption at the grassroots level, as officers know they are being watched, and supported, by the very people they serve.
14. I must also record my appreciation to PDRM for adopting digital tools to tackle cybercrimes. As the digital world evolves, we must ensure that technology is used for good, instead of being weaponised to scam others or create disunity among Malaysians.
15. We cannot allow certain individuals or groups to create unrest in the digital world. We have seen manufactured postings on social media that only serve to fuel anger. These are mostly postings by cowards who hide behind anonymous accounts. 16. We must take down such bad actors. And I know we cannot tackle such crimes in isolation. As such, we must work hand in hand to create a safer Malaysia.
Tuan-tuan dan Puan-puan sekalian,
18. To the committee of Gurdwara Sahib Polis High Street, your efforts in maintaining this iconic Gurdwara in the heart of Kuala Lumpur is much appreciated.
19. I am proud to see this Gurdwara standing strong despite the vertical surge around it. I would be happy to assist, where possible, in ensuring this Gurdwara continues to serve the needs of the community.
Thank you, and Happy Vaisakhi in advance.
