RAKYAT DIGITAL: BOOSTING DIGITAL LITERACY FOR NATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS
PUTRAJAYA, 8 JULY 2025 – The Rakyat Digital initiative is driving a major push to enhance digital literacy across Malaysia. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Digital through MyDIGITAL Corporation, this initiative aims to equip Malaysians with essential knowledge and skills to thrive in a technology-driven world. This effort aligns with the national agenda recognising digital capabilities and AI as vital drivers of global economic growth and competitiveness.
YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, the Minister of Digital, emphasized that Digital Citizens are a key pillar in Malaysia’s journey towards becoming a progressive digital nation. Through this vital public-private partnership, it has been equipping Malaysians with essential digital skills since its introduction, fostering a knowledgeable and digitally empowered society. The platform ensures that no one is left behind in the digital revolution, contributing to Malaysia's leadership in the global digital economy.”
Forging Malaysia’s Digital Future Through Public-Private Partnerships Rakyat Digital brings together government and industry partners nationwide, with contributors such as Cybersecurity Malaysia, Intel, iTrain, Microsoft, Trainocate, and others. Together, they deliver practical, interactive online modules that enhance national digital capabilities.
This collaborative model combines public sector leadership with industry expertise. The Ministry actively engages with partners to drive the upskilling agenda and welcomes new collaborations. A major advantage is cost efficiency: partners provide high-value content and expertise, enabling high-quality training programmes at no cost to the public, which broadens access and impact.
Expanding Digital Literacy with New Courses and Milestones
Following the success of AI untuk Rakyat, a self-learning programme launched on 16 January 2024 to increase AI awareness, Rakyat Digital has broadened its offerings. AI untuk Rakyat surpassed its initial goal, reaching over 1 million users in just six months. That user base has since been integrated into Rakyat Digital, which now offers a growing range of free digital courses:
• CyberSAFE® untuk Rakyat – Teaches fundamental cybersecurity skills to protect digital assets.
• Generative AI – Explains how machines create original content and its realworld applications.
• Cloud untuk Rakyat – Covers cloud models, security, deployment, and practical use.
• AI Fluency – Introduces AI basics, responsible use, and its daily life impact.
• Blockchain untuk Rakyat – Breaks down blockchain concepts, uses, and its role in Malaysia’s digital future.
New courses, including Data untuk Rakyat and Quantum untuk Rakyat, will be introduced soon to deepen digital knowledge.
Key Benefits of Rakyat Digital
• Accessibility & Inclusivity – Courses are designed for all Malaysians, regardless of age or background, and include dyslexia-friendly features to ensure no one is left behind.
• Flexible Learning – Learners can study at their own pace. Three courses are currently multilingual (Bahasa Melayu, English, Mandarin, Tamil), with efforts underway to expand all content to four languages.
• Seamless Experience – Easy registration via email or Google SSO, with certificates awarded upon completion. With its expanding course library and accessible modules, Rakyat Digital plays a vital role in supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation. It reflects the Ministry of Digital’s commitment to building an inclusive, future-ready workforce and enhancing the nation's global digital standing.
