PRESS RELEASE
HAPPY THAIPUSAM TO ALL DEVOTEES
KUALA LUMPUR, 31 January, 2026 - As we celebrate the auspicious occasion of Thaipusam, I would like to extend my warmest greetings to the Hindu community and all Malaysians.
Thaipusam is a symbol of faith and endurance, and resonates deeply with the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, reflecting our collective commitment to a society built on Compassion (Ihsan), Respect (Hormat), and Trust (Keyakinan). In our diverse nation, such celebrations serve as a powerful reminder that our strength lies in our unity and our shared values of social justice and human dignity.
This year, to ensure that the spirit of the celebration reaches everyone, we have taken steps to integrate technology with our cultural heritage in Penang where we have allocated digital screens at the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple (Waterfall Hill Temple). These screens will allow the thousands of devotees and visitors to follow the chariot procession and temple ceremonies more closely, ensuring a smoother and more inclusive experience for all.
Meanwhile in Batu Caves, my constituency office will be active on the ground, as we are every year. We will be providing complimentary meals and refreshments to support the devotees. We hope this gesture of service provides comfort to the thousands who have travelled far to fulfill their vows. I will also be visiting the Batu Caves temple tomorrow morning.
As we strive to build a more inclusive and digitally advanced Malaysia, let us carry the discipline and devotion of Thaipusam into our daily lives. My commitment remains firm in upholding the welfare of all Malaysians and ensuring that progress is felt by every community, regardless of background.
I wish everyone a safe, peaceful, and spiritually enriching Thaipusam. May this festival bring renewed hope and prosperity to your homes.
Vel, Vel, Vetrivel!
